Osteopathy

Osteopathy specialises in the diagnosis, management, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal and other related disorders and is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. Treatment is hands-on and involves skilled manipulation of the spine and joints, and massage of soft tissues. Advice on exercise may be offered to assist your recovery, prevent recurrence or worsening of symptoms. General Osteopathic Council.

All osteopaths in the UK, wherever they work, are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). It is against the law for anyone to call themselves an osteopath unless they are registered with the GOsC, which sets and promotes high standards of competency, conduct and safety. Robert Williams BSc Hons (Ost Med), MSC Sports Injuries

Robert qualified in 1998 with a first class honours degree in Osteopathic Medicine and an MSc in Sport Injuries. He is registered with the General Osteopathic Council and has run specialist clinics in Somerset for 16 years.

He runs a busy practice in West Chinnock, near Crewkerne, while also working at both South Petherton and Stoke sub Hamdon GP Surgeries near Yeovil. The practice is well respected and enjoys good working relations with local GP’s and other healthcare professionals.

He treats patients with a wide range of issues from general back pain to chronic hip and knee pain as well as frozen shoulder and sciatica. Headaches and arthritic pain can also respond well to osteopathic treatment.

With sports activities becoming a regular part of modern life, Robert is treating injuries across all sporting disciplines. He has a particular interest in injury prevention and will use video analysis to help sportsmen and women to identify areas of weakness that may lead to future problems. Patients range from teenagers to the people in their 90’s.
